MLS Is Different!

The MLS Program Model is de-escalation-based personal safety training.

We are the first international program featuring non-violence theory in conjunction with personal and community safety skills training. Key features of the MLS curriculum distinguish this program model from all others:

  • Defined inventories for physical and non-physical technique and skill sets
  • Research-based personal defense theory
  • Best practices model for information sharing
  • Cross-discipline concepts on communication effectiveness
  • Adult-learning features
  • Child-development features in distinct program models for children and youth
  • Cross-discipline information and practice, with verbal skills, cognitive skills, and learning theory
  • A defined personal empowerment model within all training formats
  • A clear assessments model for students, to facilitate competency outcomes

Unique training elements facilitate teachers and students to provide the most effective training in the most minimal timeframe. Key Elements to the MLS Program

  • 1. Accurate, current, and representative information, in the appropriate context for audience needs.
  • Age and culture-appropriate Defense Theory

Sometimes slef-defense requires physical skills -- most often, it does not. Contemporary defense theory includes personal safety assertion and conflict resolution skills as first-line prevention.

  • De-escalation Boundary Skills

Boundary skills include physical and non-physical techniques and they prevent assault. A primary element in all MLS programming is our defined skill-set --core skills to de-escalate (reduce) the potential for aggression, conflict, and harm. This "de-escalation focus" is the root theory with MLS programming, and a defining element of why classes are effective, and why they are so much fun. De-escalation skills are conflict resolution with a higher-objective of personal safety. Available in an effective, defined curriculum only from MLS.

5. Emotional Resiliency Skills: a key skill-set for personal effectiveness.Physical skills to prevent harm.

6. A Leadership and Facilitation Skills Model for non-violence leaders.

7. A program model that includes: rationale for non-violent self-defense; rationale for leadership; rationale for peer-training.
